A STRANGENESS IN MY MIND by Orhan Pamuk

This book has definitely made my time in quarantine so much better, I just couldn’t wait to get back to it - I’m almost sad that I finished it.
This splendid novel is as much about love letters, imagination, culture and time, as it is a love letter to Istanbul itself.
Interestingly, the main character’s life and his beloved country, Turkey, are portrayed in a similar manner, both deeply trapped between modernity and nostalgia, desperately wanting to move forward while looking back with regret.
I fully recommend this read and look forward to my next novel from Orhan Pamuk - “My Name is Red”

“In a city, you can be alone in a crowd, and in fact what makes the city a city is that it lets you hide the strangeness in your mind inside its teeming multitudes.”
