THE GROWTH DELUSION by David Pilling

A really interesting view of the world presented in this book where GDP growth seems to measure goods and services but not much of what is truly important to individuals such as clean air and safe streets.
There’s also the point that economic growth says nothing about the distribution of wealth and the GDP growth alone is not enough for measuring well-being.
As complementary metrics Pilling suggests the following: GPI, HDI, HPI, Measure of Domestic Progress and Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare.

“Only in economics is endless expansion seen as a virtue. In biology it is called cancer.”
