SPOON-FED by Tim Spector

In his scientific research, Tim Spector does a fantastic job at dispelling most of the myths we are told about nutrition.
What surprised me was the lack of good science behind the medical and government food recommendations and how often the big food companies control and fund nutritional studies “to prove” the quality of their ultra processed foods.
His recommendations are well balanced, focusing on trying and deciding what works best for each individual and having a diverse diet without added chemicals.
However, restrictions on junk food marketing or calorie label alone are not going to solve the problem, he argues that the greatest hope is in education:

“We can no longer leave something as important as food in the hands of massive corporations, civil servants, bloggers or celebrities. We all need to take personal responsibility to learn more. We need to be teaching our children about real and fake food with the same zeal that we teach them how to walk, read and write.”
